CCARM makes front page of Manitoba Cooperator
Dr. Peter Zahradka and the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM) were highlighted recently in a front page article in the Manitoba Cooperator.
We have developed tremendous capacity to advance food business ideas through research, product testing and evaluation, development and commercialization of agricultural products for health. The article, entitled “Functional food business a tough sell” describes the challenges in bringing Canadian grown functional foods to market despite this capacity. But there is hope… The article also discusses Manitoba’s suitability to implement strategies the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI) proposed this summer, including the concept of a “Canadian diet ,” emphasizing the nutritional value of foods including those grown and researched in Manitoba such as pulses, canola oil, and whole grains.
