| DND trainees receive MHRC Funding |

Congratulations to Amit Kamboj, Eli Kwaku Akude and Christopher Dart for receiving Manitoba Health Research Council Training Awards thru the 2009 Coordinated Studentship Competition (Manitoba Institute of Child Health, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, Health Sciences Centre Foundation, the Manitoba Lung Association, Manitoba Medical College Foundation, and the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship). M.Sc. Student - Mr. Christopher Dart (Supervisor - Dr. Christopher Anderson) received a SBHRF/MMSF Graduate Studentship award for his project entitled "Determination of composition and function of n-methyl-d-aspartate receptors in cerebral vasculature." Ph.D. Student - Mr. Eli Kwaku Akude (Supervisor - Dr. Paul Fernyhough) received a UMGF/MHRC Studentship award for his project entitled "Lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial dysfunction: role in nerve degeneration associated with diabetic sensory neuropathy". Postdoctoral Fellow - Dr. Amit Kamboj (Supervisor - Dr. Chris Anderson) received a MHRC/SBHRF Postdoctoral Fellowship Award for his project entitled: "Role of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-2 (PARP-2) in the pathogenesis of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis."
