Two St. Boniface researchers are among grant recipients to be honoured by the Manitoba Medical Service Foundation on April 22, 2010. The MMSF hosts an annual wine/cheese reception for award recipients of the past year (2009).
Congratulations to:
Dr. Shelley Zieroth , a cardiologist within the Cardiovascular Health Research in Manitoba (CHaRM) group, together with Dr. M. Sood, received $25,000 for “A simple urinary test to predict hospitalization for congestive heart failure”.
Dr. Todd Duhamel, Principal Investigator of Physical Activity and Chronic Disease Prevention in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, received $25,000 for “Insulin resistance and the regulation of myocardial calcium-transport in models representative of the Type 2 diabetic heart.”
Congratulations also to Dr. Michel Aliani, an assistant professor within the University of Manitoba, Human Nutritional Sciences, and collaborator with Dr. Grant Pierce, who received $25,000 for “Bioavailability studies of selected components of flaxseed in plasma of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD).”
