Congratulations to Andrea Szwajcer, Clinical Librarian, Carolyn Sifton-Helene Fuld Library, St. Boniface Hospital Research, on winning the Community Choice award, Apps for Library Idea Challenge, at the 2011 Charleston Conference in Charleston, SC. The international competition, which encourages librarians and information professionals to conceptualize solutions to the challenges that they and their constituents face in addressing the search and discovery of information is sponsored by Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services.

Szwajcer’s app idea, JTOCs 2 Go, would enable users to customize a journal table of contents notification service with full-text viewing and sharing of articles.

The award enables Szwajcer, in collaboration with Elsevier, to develop JTOCs 2 Go for inclusion in SciVerse Applications, which provides opportunities for researchers and librarians to collaborate with developers in creating and promoting new applications that improve research workflows.
