International members of the world’s cardiovascular research community and some young members from Winnipeg were recently honoured by the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. The annual award event recognizes leadership and success in promoting cardiovascular research and education, lifetime achievements in research, and young scientists who are in the early stage of their academic life.
Widely regarded as one of the preeminent basic cardiovascular research programs in the world, the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences is a partnership between the University of Manitoba and St. Boniface Hospital, and is a leading force in the fight against heart disease at the cellular and molecular levels. The multidisciplinary program includes over 100 researchers investigating heart pathophysiology, electrophysiology, cellular and molecular biology.
The Institute’s awards program was produced in collaboration with the University of Manitoba, St-Boniface Hospital Foundation, the Royal Bank of Canada and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
