I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bram Ramjiawan to the additional position of Director of Research for the Asper Clinical Research Institute, effective April 1, 2013. Dr. Ramjiawan currently holds the position of Director of Research Innovation and Regulatory Affairs at St-Boniface Hospital, where he oversees the office of clinical research (clinical trials) as well as the management of business, intellectual property and technology transfer activities for the Centre.

Prior to joining St. Boniface Hospital Research, Dr. Ramjiawan served the National Research Council-Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) as an Industrial Technology Advisor specializing in biomedical technologies. Before joining IRAP, he was with the National Research Council Institute for Biodiagnostics (Winnipeg) as a Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs Officer and as a biomedical researcher. Dr. Ramjiawan holds MSc (Physiology) and PhD (Pharmacology and Therapeutics) degrees from the University of Manitoba, and sits on a number of national and international boards.

Congratulations and thanks are also extended to Dr. Randy Guzman, the Founding Director of Research at the ACRI and under whose guidance for the last 5+ years the ACRI, 3rd floor experienced tremendous expansion. Now at capacity, ACRI is comprised of research teams including Cardiovascular Health Research in Manitoba (CHaRM), Psychosocial Oncology and Cancer Nursing Research, the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine, Vascular Research, as well as the Lipid Clinic, an outpatient department of St-Boniface Hospital.
