On October 3rd, Dr. Salim Yusuf, president-elect of the World Heart Federation, presented the annual Harold Buchwald Heart Health Lecture at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. The title of his presentation: “Most Premature Heart Disease is Preventable”.
The lecture, an initiative of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences hosted by CBC Winnipeg’s Terry MacLeod, was given at a luncheon enjoyed by over 200 attendees. Supported annually by St-Boniface Hospital Foundation, this year’s event was sponsored by Manshield Construction of Winnipeg.
The International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Established by renowned Cardiovascular Scientists, Surgeons and Cardiologists, the Academy provides the organizational structure for the world-wide sharing of research and education information in the field of heart health.
