His Excellency Gian Lorenzo Cornado, Italian Ambassador, toured St. Boniface Hospital Research facilities this afternoon. Accompanied by Mr. Stan Carbone, Vice Consul of Italy, they visited the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, with specific interest in the Canada Italy Tissue Engineering Laboratory (CITEL).
The tour was hosted by Dr. Bram Ramjiawan, Director of Research, Asper Clinical Research Institute and Dr. Pawan Singal, Director, Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, accompanied by Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra, Principal Investigator, CITEL, Dr. Michel Tétreault, President and CEO, St. Boniface Hospital, and Mr. Charles (Chuck) LaFlèche, President and CEO, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
The Canada Italy Tissue Engineering Laboratory is a collaboration between the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, St. Boniface Hospital Research, and is intended to develop innovative technologies for biomaterials and define pioneering procedures for cardiac tissue engineering.
