Taylor Morriseau, from Dr. Benedict Albensi’s laboratory, is the first ever to receive the TD Bank Group Student Award.

“In aboriginal communities, the occurrence of diabetes is extremely high. Morriseau is working on understanding how the brain affects the way cells use and produce energy, and why its failure to do so can lead to can lead to a number of related health conditions. The results have direct implications for metabolism disorders like diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease.”

The TD Bank Group Student Award supports aboriginal students in science and research into health concerns affecting Aboriginal Peoples.
