The Heart and Stroke Foundation in Manitoba, in partnership with The Winnipeg Foundation, is pleased to announce the 2015 Primary Prevention Challenge Grant competition results. The purpose of the Challenge Grants is to support innovative and unique projects (research and/or evaluation) that have direct policy and/or practice relevance and application to reducing risk factors (smoking, physical inactivity, excess weight) at a population level in Manitoba.

Dr. Todd Duhamel, Principal Investigator, Physical Activity and Chronic Disease Prevention, Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, has been awarded two years of funding for Developing the ENCOURAGE app to support physical activity promotion in diverse workplaces. The ENCOURAGE project is an established partnership with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Winnipeg in motion, the Reh-Fit Centre and the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks Hospital.
