The St. Boniface Hospital Foundation and the Conrad Wyrzykowski family celebrated the accomplishments and upcoming research of 3 Investigators today, at a luncheon held in their honour at the Asper Research Institute.
- Dr. Larry Hryshko received support for his project on increasing the number and quality of hearts available for transplant.
- Dr. Amir Ravandi’s project involves blood analysis; looking at oxidized fats as markers to predict heart attack.
- Dr. Jeff Wigle will study a specific chemical abundant in blueberries, strawberries and raspberries, for its protective effects against heart attack.
Conrad Wyrzykowski has been supporting St-Boniface Hospital, as a volunteer and donor, for more than 20 years. His gifts include the establishment of the Evelyn Wyrzykowski Family Research Chair in Cardiology Endowment Fund, the Conrad & Evelyn Wyrzykowski Fund to support cancer and cardiovascular research, the Wyrzykowski Family Studentship to support undergraduate research initiatives, and the creation of an education and consultation room at the Bergen Cardiac Care Centre.
