The second edition of Adult Stem Cells: Methods and Protocols, edited by Dr. Sanjiv Dhingra, Dr. Paolo di Nardo, and Dr. Vincenzo Desiderio, has drawn great interest since its release in early August.  Building on the success of the first edition, which has seen nearly 100,000 purchases worldwide, the second edition has already garnered over 7,400 downloads, signaling a strong response from the global scientific community.

This new volume offers an in-depth exploration of the rapidly growing field of stem cell therapies, with a focus on personalized medicine and tissue engineering. The chapters provide detailed protocols on advanced techniques, including stem cell isolation, characterization, and the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). iPSCs, derived from a patient’s own genome, hold great promise for personalized treatments, especially for rare genetic disorders.

This edition also introduces readers to the intersection of nanotechnology and regenerative medicine. It covers topics such as nanoparticles, 3D scaffolds, and new biomaterials designed to enhance the survival of transplanted stem cells. These advancements address a key challenge in stem cell therapies—ensuring that transplanted cells remain viable in the body’s tissues.

Dhingra is particularly proud of how this book emphasizes protocols and process, versus theory.

“Researchers and clinicians interested in advancing personalized drug therapy and regenerative medicine will find this volume an invaluable resource, as it provides crucial insights into translating cutting-edge stem cell technologies into practical clinical treatments,” he said.

Protocols for optimizing tissue regeneration, highlighting the collaboration between biomedical and engineering fields are also included. “By presenting novel techniques, the book emphasizes the shift from traditional medicine to personalized approaches, offering more effective treatments for degenerative diseases tailored to individual patients,” Dhingra added.
