We’re proud to share exciting news from one of our own at the SBRC. Psychee Venus, a talented student researcher from Dr. Inna Rabinovich-Nikitin’s lab, has been recognized for her outstanding scientific achievements at the Manitoba Schools’ Science Symposium (MSSS), which took place this past weekend.

Psychee earned three major awards at the provincial competition:

  1. Gold Medal in the Senior Category
  2. Outstanding Health and Biomedical Technology Award
  3. Women’s Health and Research Award

These honors not only reflect her innovative work in the biomedical sciences but also acknowledge her commitment to advancing women’s health research. As a result of her success at MSSS, Psychee has been selected to compete at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, taking place May 31 to June 6, 2025, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

“I am incredibly proud of Psychee! Her dedication and hard work have led to this incredible success. This win is a reflection of Psychee’s unwavering commitment to excellence, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to witness her success,” said her supervisor, Dr. Inna-Rabinovich-Nikitin, Principal Investigator Women’s Heart Health and Cardiometabolic Function, Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences.

“We are very proud of Psychee for winning all the categories in the Manitoba Schools’ Science Symposium, it’s a tremendous achievement and speaks to the high quality training and mentorship provided by Dr. Rabinovich-Nikitin”, added Dr. Lorrie Kirshenbaum, Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences.

We’ll be cheering her on as she prepares to represent Manitoba — and SBRC — on the national stage.
