St. Boniface Connections Shine at 2026 Manitoba Bioscience Awards

The local bioscience community gathered at the Fort Garry Hotel on Wednesday, March 11, for an evening of celebration and recognition. Hosted by the Bioscience Association Manitoba (BAM), the “DNA of Success” Industry Celebration honoured the individuals and organizations driving innovation in the province.

The evening was particularly special for St. Boniface Hospital Research, as the ceremony highlighted both emerging talent and established leadership connected to our centre.

Most Promising Bioscience Student of the Year: Leena Regi Saleth

Leena Regi Saleth, a PhD candidate at the University of Manitoba and conducting research in the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre, received the award for Most Promising Bioscience Student of the Year. This honour recognizes students whose academic excellence and passion for the field suggest a bright future as leaders in the sector. We are proud to see Leena recognized for her hard work and dedication to bioscience.

Bioscience Educator of the Year: Dr. Samantha Pauls

The celebration also honoured one of our esteemed alumni, Dr. Samantha Pauls. Now with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Pauls was named Bioscience Educator of the Year. This award recognizes her efforts to inspire youth and create clear pathways for the next generation of scientists. Her success reflects the strong foundation of mentorship and excellence fostered here at St. Boniface Hospital Research during her postdoctoral fellowship at the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM).

A Strong Future for Manitoba Bioscience

The event brought together leaders from industry, government, and academia to acknowledge the depth of talent within the province. Andrea Ladouceur, President and CEO of BAM, noted that these recipients represent the leadership and innovation strengthening the local sector.

We congratulate Leena and Dr. Pauls on their achievements and look forward to their continued contributions to the bioscience community.
